The Magic Light on the Mountain: A Story of Wonder (Chapter 1)
Hi there, bright explorers! 🌈 I’m so happy you’re here today, because we’re about to begin a very special adventure.
Have you ever looked up at the night sky and wondered what secrets the stars are keeping? ✨
Or seen something so surprising and beautiful that it made your heart feel big and sparkly inside?
Well, today we’re going to hear a story that is full of light, wonder, and a very important moment from a famous Buddhist book called the Lotus Sutra. 🌸
We’re going to explore Chapter 1, where something amazing happens on a peaceful mountain. A kind and wise teacher is sitting with many students around him. The air is calm… the sky is quiet… and then suddenly

The Giant Gathering
A long time ago, the Buddha sat on a peaceful mountain.
The mountain was shaped like a giant eagle.
A huge crowd came to see him.
There were thousands of monks and everyday people.
There were even kings, magical nature spirits, and dragons!
Everyone was very quiet.
They were ready to learn.
The Magic Light
The Buddha taught a gentle lesson, and then he sat down.
He crossed his legs and sat perfectly still.
He closed his eyes and made his mind completely calm.
Suddenly, something amazing happened!
Beautiful flowers rained down from the sky.
The ground gave a gentle, happy shake.
Then, a bright, pure light shined from the middle of the Buddha’s forehead.
It worked exactly like a giant, magical window.
It lit up thousands of other worlds far away.
The people in the crowd could look into the light and see those worlds.
They saw people helping others.
They saw other Buddhas teaching kind lessons.
A Question and a Secret from the Past
A great helper in the crowd was amazed.
He asked a wise teacher, “What does this magic light mean?”
The wise teacher smiled.
He remembered a story from a long, long time ago.
Millions of years ago, another Buddha did the exact same thing!
He shined a magic light to get everyone’s attention, and then he taught the greatest secret in the universe.
Then, the wise teacher shared a funny surprise.
He said to the helper:
“A long time ago, I was the teacher who helped that ancient Buddha.
And you were a student who forgot to pay attention!
You cared too much about having fun and being famous.
But deep down, you still tried to be kind.
Because you kept trying to do good things, you are here today.”
Because the magic light is shining again, the wise teacher knows exactly what will happen next.
Our Buddha is getting ready to share the most wonderful teaching of all.
